“If you love cooking, you get more than eating.”
—Pip Fargrajang, Thai House Cooking School
Are you ready to pound your own curry paste? Do you want to know how to achieve a flavor balance in a bowl of tom yam? Or maybe you would like to learn how ginger and turmeric can improve your health? As a food writer and travel journalist, Karen has chopped and minced her way through kitchens around the world. She writes the award-winning food blog Rambling Spoon, and she has covered food issues for publications around the world, including Gastronomica, The Wall Street Journal, Afar, Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia and Lonely Planet. She spent the 2010-11 academic year in Boulder, Colo., as a Ted Scripps Fellow in Environmental Journalism studying the future of food and its effects on the health of our planet and ourselves.
During her years as a correspondent for Gourmet, Karen studied at some of Southeast Asia’s most notable stoves. Yet much of the best advice, she finds, comes from the down-home kitchens of seasoned grandmothers. Karen offer a variety of hands-on cooking courses and demonstrations, as well as workshops on eating for good health.
