Karen has nearly 20 years of experience writing books and articles for newspapers, magazines, blogs and literary journals around the world. As a journalist, she primarily covers food, health, environment and social issues in developing societies. She is available for assignments, long and short, near and far.
Karen’s work has won awards and accolades from the Fund for Investigative Journalism, Willamette Writers, Literary Arts, the Council for Wisconsin Writers, the William Randolph Hearst Foundation, the Society of Professional Journalists and many other organizations. She is a senior fellow at the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism at Brandeis University.
